Town Governance
How Pigg's Peak Town Council is structured, governed, and operated.
Legal Framework
Pigg's Peak Town Council is governed by the Urban Government Act of 1969. It operates as a progeny of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, which is responsible for the general governance of urban areas in Eswatini.
The Council
The public elects a board of Councillors to form the Council, which exercises delegated authority to run the municipality. The Council is responsible for approving municipal by-laws, the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), and budgets. Through its various committees, the Council monitors and scrutinises service delivery and outputs carried out by the Executive.
The Executive
The Council employs a Town Clerk (Chief Executive Officer) whose role is to execute the Council's mandate implementing by-laws, policies, strategies, and Council decisions, while ensuring the municipality operates effectively. The day-to-day operations of Pigg's Peak Town Council are led by the Town Clerk/CEO and a dedicated management team.
