Piggs Peak Town Council Signs Strategic MOUs to Advance Skills Development, Sports Infrastructure and Community Well-being

Piggs Peak Town Council has taken a significant step towards building a more prosperous and inclusive town through the signing of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Ministry of Education and Training Eswatini (MOET), the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC), and Young Heroes.
Through its partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Council is working towards establishing a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institution in Piggs Peak.
The initiative will see the Ministry provide trainers, develop accredited curricula, ensure quality standards, and support the mobilisation of resources necessary for the successful operation of the institution. This partnership is aimed at equipping local youth with practical skills that enhance employability and support economic growth in the town.
As a first step, the Council and the Ministry are operationalising a Vocational Skills Training Programme in Sewing, with enrolment set to commence in July. The programme aims to equip young people with practical, marketable skills that will enhance their employability and prepare them for opportunities in emerging industries and businesses within Piggs Peak.
The Council has also entered into a partnership with the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council to strengthen sports development and youth empowerment. The collaboration will focus on upgrading and rehabilitating sporting facilities, conducting audits of existing sports infrastructure, introducing outdoor sporting activities, providing technical training for coaches, referees and administrators, and mobilising resources for the development of modern multi-purpose sporting facilities. These efforts are expected to increase participation in sport, promote healthy lifestyles, and nurture local talent.
To operationalise the partnership, a technical team from Sports Council conducted a site assessment of the Pigg’s Peak Club Sports ground, focusing on short term maintenance interventions aimed at addressing immediate safety, accessibility, and usability concerns.
In addition, the Council has partnered with Young Heroes to strengthen community development and social welfare programmes. The partnership will focus on addressing HIV and AIDS, PMTCT, child protection, youth empowerment, and community outreach initiatives. The Council will work closely with Young Heroes to improve access to essential services, coordinate HIV response programmes, facilitate community engagement, and create opportunities for socio-economic and livelihood training for vulnerable groups.
These strategic partnerships demonstrate Piggs Peak Town Council's commitment to investing in education, empowering youth, improving sporting infrastructure, and addressing social challenges to create a stronger, healthier and more resilient community.
