Ratepayers are advised to settle their outstanding balances in rates before 31st March 2024 to avoid incurring interest, penalties and ultimately legal action, as outlined in Section 32 (1), (2) and (3) of the Rating Act.
Property owners are, further, expected to update their contact information (Know Your Customer) with the Town Council before the 01st March 2024. This is an obligation contained in Section 37 (4) and (5) of the Rating Act, which further states that “an owner who fails to comply with subsection (4) shall be guilty of an offence”. This information is crucial for the organisation to send correspondences such as rates and valuation roll notices to correct postal addresses, emails and contact details.
