As guided by the Urban Government Act, 1969 through the Rating Act, 1995, Council is mandated to collect property tax as a source of revenue to fulfil her mandate.
Property owners are informed that the Property Rates Assessment and Billing Process for 2023/2024 has been completed. On the 1st April 2023, Council began issuing the 2023/2024 Rates Bills to property owners through the postal addresses and electronic media such as SMSes and Emails.
As the Council’s financial year begins, Council found it imperative to remind ratepayers about the available payment methods. Through such platforms Council wants to ensure efficiency in the payment of rates.
While property owners may assume that Council is furnished with all their ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) information, it is still very important to check and make necessary updates where applicable. Council, therefore, reminds all residents and stakeholders to visit Council or use the available communication platforms to update their KYC information. This information helps Council to effect necessary financial updates as may be required by customers during the course of the year. Council wishes to consistently and effectively communicate with all property owners and her stakeholders to address their needs and queries.
