On Monday, eight (8) new councillors were sworn into office marking the beginning of their five (5) year term as Pigg’s Peak Town Councillors. The swearing in ceremony of the councillors was conducted at the Town Council Boardroom by the Pigg’s Peak Station Commander Dumisani Nzalo.
Shortly after the swearing in, Councillors then started the election process led by the CEO Mzwandile Ndzinisa, wherein they elected the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and members of the Finance Committee. During the elections, Councillor Sipho Shongwe was elected for the position of Mayor while Councillor Lungile Khalatsi Dlamini was elected for the position of Deputy Mayor.
The Councillors comprises of six (6) councillors who were successfully elected by the people of Pigg’s Peak on the 24th June 2023, when the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development conducted the 2022 Local Government Elections in 13 towns of the Kingdom. The Minister then appointed two (2) more councillors bringing the total of Pigg’s Peak Town Councillors to eight.
