MULTISTORY MALL UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN PIGG’S PEAK…70% OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN

As part of local economic empowerment, it has become a norm that when a new project comes to a town or even a community, residents are prioritized, whether through the provision of employment or other services that might benefit that community. It is against such a background that about 70% of the people employed in the construction site are residents of Pigg’s Peak.

The multimillion commercial development, estimated to be E27 million at completion is under construction adjacent to the bus rank and expected to be complete in June next year. This structure is a multi-story development that will house shops, offices and many more and further transform the aesthetics of the town centre.

One of the local informal traders expressed how the project benefits their businesses and the youth in terms of the employment opportunities brought by the project. According to the Project Manager, represented by Mfanasibili Dlamini, although priority is given to people from the town’s surroundings but everyone has an equal chance of being hired given that their need arises.
