The market stalls under construction at Mhlatane
It is against this background that Council has invested E77 000 in the construction of market stalls next to Mhlatane High School, a site where vendors previously traded in the open.
As part of local economic development, Council also engaged a local contractor to fix the leaking roof of the main market.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mzwandile Ndzinisa mentioned how Council recognises vendors as an important stakeholder due to their immense contribution in the development of the town.
“Previously the vendors were exposed to harsh weather conditions such as rain, sunshine and wind, we believe that our vendors will now enjoy the improved working environment” he said.
