In a drive to improve service delivery through the upgrade of the town’s infrastructure, Pigg’s Peak Town Council on 16th May 2023, initiated the construction of three (3) major roads within the town; namely road behind Government hospital, Road 1 and Road 2 with a total estimated cost of E18 977 987.21, which we anticipate to be completed in five months
The project involves upgrading of approximately 1.5km of gravel road to bitumen surface road, with surface and underground storm-water drainage and pedestrian walkway. The total length of the roads is 1 460m, with road behind Government hospital being 397m, Road 1 is 360m and Road 2 is 703m. According to the Town Engineer, Mrs. Londiwe Sibandze, “It is worth mentioning that one of the Council’s strategic objectives outlined in the five-year strategic plan or IDP, is to improve ease of movement in the town through improved land and infrastructure management. Hence the project underway speaks to that objective
The project for the construction of the aforementioned roads was awarded to Stefanutti Stocks Construction Eswatini (PTY) Ltd, a company with an impressive track record in the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects. After completion, the roads will benefit Pigg’s Peak residents and business community in various ways, such as servicing a local school, government offices, private businesses and government’s institutional housing. The roads will also attract investors and new business establishments, since roads act as a foundation for economic development.
