It is that time of year, when schools are opening for the first term and Council, through its’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, felt duty bound once again to donate eighteen (18) pairs of shoes, to 18 needy students, handpicked from the six Wards of the town (3 from each Ward). To ensure transparency in the selection process, Ward Councillors worked jointly with Bagcugcuteli when identifying the recipients.
Contrary to the belief that urban dwellers are free from the scourge of poverty, as a town we do have residents who are less fortunate within our boundary; therefore, Council will continue supporting this segment of the population. Through this donation, we hope that the beneficiaries will be motivated to work even harder in year ahead, since education is key to the development of the country, as stated in the National Development Strategy.
