WORLD AIDS DAY COMMEMORATION A SUCCESS

On the 7th December 2022, Piggs Peak Town Council joined the entire world in celebrating the World AIDS Day, which is celebrated internationally on the 1st December, under the theme; “Equalize: Eswatini Ending AIDS for All” which highlights the importance of delivering quality, people-centred HIV prevention and treatment services in every sector.

Aerobic session during World AIDS Day commemoration

As part of the commemoration of this day, an aerobic session was conducted at the town centre, where residents and Council employees participated, advocating for equality in strategies to end AIDS. Speaking during the event, Mayor, Mr. Absalom Ndlovu said it was everyone’s responsibility to commit towards ending AIDS. He said the individual efforts to end the pandemic could help the entire country realise its goal of ending AIDS by 2030.

It is worth noting that Council in collaboration with her partners has played a huge role in curbing the spread of HIV and other HIV related illnesses in Pigg’s Peak by sensitising communities about the pandemic as well as providing them with condoms all the time.
