MAYOR’S POOL TOURNAMENT – PRMOTING A HEALTHY COMPETITIVE ATTITUDE
Engaging with stakeholders and giving them feedback on progress is one of the Town Council’s top priorities under Good Governance and Public Participation. It is against this background, that on the 23rd and 24th September 2023 the organization held an Annual General Meeting and Budget Consultative Meetings. During the meetings, Council presented the Annual Performance Report with audited financial statements for the financial year ended March 2023. Residents also made their submissions on projects and programs that need to be included in the budget for the 2024/25 financial year.
Council appreciates residents and stakeholders for attending the meetings accordingly. While making his remarks, the Mayor Sipho Shongwe said “it is important for you to attend these meetings in order to participate and own the development of the town as residents. Council values your inputs hence he coordinates such meetings every year prior to making preparations for the following budget’’.
COMMUNITY SUBMISSIONS FOR 2024/25 BUDGETs
- Improvement of gravel road from the entrance of ka Mahlalela until Endlovini church junction servicing residents of Bahloli to bitumen standard.
- Improvement of gravel road from the entrance of ka make Dlamini- Mangwaneni-opposite church of God to bitumen standard.
- Upgrade of feeder roads at Malandalahle from gravel to bitumen standard.
- Renovation and upgrade of Council facilities such as Gobolondlo hall interior and exterior, and toilets below Killarney sports ground and Mhlatane sports ground.
- Provision of street lighting at Mhlatane junction bridge.
- Upgrade recreational facilities such as the table tennis court at Killarney for recreational purposes
- Introduce more solar street lights in order to reduce electricity costs.
- Installation of additional grandstands at Killarney sports field.
- Provision for a walkway from Bahloli to Malandalahle.
- Address the issue of stormwater drainage at Mangwaneni especially the one that leading to kaNyamane homestead.
- Provide additional recreational facilities to cater for the children in the outstanding wards in wards 4&5.
- Rehabilitation of the Multipurpose Hall (Gobolondlo) for income generating purposes.
- Formation of the Rate Payers Association.
- Allocation of funds to cater for youth activities.
- Provision of additional toilets to service both the public and informal settlements.
- Need for additional Social Centre services.
- Provide electricity supply to Mangwaneni social center.
